Youtube automatically subtitles you in Dutch (turn on captions). I especially liked the "chinchilla die crisis". Now I can't stop wondering what a chinchilla die crisis would be like.
"Chinchilla die crisis"? Is something happening to the chinchilla population?
Wasn't quite what I got from what was actually said. Near as I could understand the kid was talking about his experience in a Scottish gang. And something about McDonald's. .
It really does sound sort of like Dutch. YouTube even has an option in the settings, for translating the "Dutch" back to English. The translation makes no sense, of course, and still mentions a chinchilla crisis.
Slang partially, yes. But mostly - because of a very bizarre pronunciation. Russian young gangsters or just teenagers from a troubled families speak exactly like this young man, something like quick one-syllable barking: "eh-uh-ah-bum-bdang".
I understand Scottish accent well enough, and even like it in movies, if there are more or less educated people who talk not too quickly. But in your video I hardly recognize a half of the words...
What about slang, Russian crimilal world has its slang deeply developed, it's almost a language: adult people can talk very clearly, and you still don't understand a word.
It's the combination of the accent with the rather noisy background soundtrack, I think. I understood it on the second listen, although I missed some words the first time, despite not being Scottish, he just seems to be accented rather than actually speaking dialect. It probably helps if you know what 'neds' are!
Poor kid, sounds like he's come from a pretty tough place and I suppose the 'near incomprehensible' voice will not make it that much easier for him to find another path. :-/
I occasionally meet people down here in the Westcountry whose dialect is so strong that I can't work out what they are saying even though I grew up here. Actually, maybe you would like some of that for contrast: here are the wonderful April and June (though I have met people with stronger accents!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwFeZZcCdLA
The autotranslate knows they are speaking English but it's attempt to caption them is soooooo wrong!

Seems logical enough to have a vampire bat named Renfield.
Although Stoker was Irish not Scottish.
