I am not built for fasting
Aug. 3rd, 2016 11:19 pmToday was a fast day in the village, nothing except bread, vegetables and fruit was allowed (not even olive oil). We worked at the far edge of the forest and the kids brought us lunch there, which was well, bread, vegetables and fruit. Nobody in the village cooked anything else today.
In the evening however I had to drive to the nearby town to meet someone and I grabbed a quick dinner at a diner there. It is a very simple, no frills place but it is the most expensive diner in town.
I had this Greek salad:

And this chicken schnitzel with mash:

It was very good. I am definitely not a foodie though and can enjoy most of edible stuff.
The bill was around GBP 2.50 (Euro 3.10, USD 3.40, CAD 4.30).

Date: 2016-08-04 11:40 pm (UTC)Nothing like fresh fruit and vegetables. Wish I had the time, space, and energy to grow my own produce. Sometimes I can get local produce at the market cheap. Grocery store produce is insanely expensive mostly because they get it shipped over from the US or elsewhere.

Date: 2016-08-05 12:47 am (UTC)Oh yes I've been watching the news on the LNG thing here. Been cheering on the native Canadians. We have issues with the oil companies here. I'm not a fan of the oil companies here. They need to start listening to the Natives they know the land better then anyone..They know first hand what the effects of the pipelines are on the land.

I loved watching stuff like that..nature and science shows.

Date: 2016-08-05 12:50 am (UTC)I do love soup. Especially on a cold winter day.
Nothing like a creamy tomatoe soup and grilled cheese sandwich for lunch.
