I am the way (the only way is up)

This was in Moldova. We visited it briefly after our road trip through Transylvania last summer.

We were walking from one village to another through the woods. Just after we got out of the woods we saw a monastery and went in to refill our water bottles and look around. When we were leaving the monastery I approached a monk to ask through which gate we should leave to go to our destination village. He did not even let me speak, as soon as I opened my mouth he just waved his hand to the right and up and said "Up, up, the way for you is up. Go right behind here and then up, up. That is the way. Up, up, up." We turned right on the corner of the building and there was indeed an entrance there and it was leading up.

That's very much a moment you have caught there, isn't it? Much longer and the roof will fall and there will be not much more than coloured plaster flakes in the dust, but for now you can still see what it is, battered and torn... It could be a photo to illustrate the fall of Rome.
