Yesterday a friend of our host came to join our team and help with our project here. The guy got me hooked on chewing natural frankincense resin. It is like chewing gum with a very fresh taste which I find difficult to describe. He got his resins from Oman. There are many grades of it apparently. We are chewing Green Hojari, which I understand is one of the highest grades. I had to check if it got you high or was psychoactive in some other way before I tried it and it isn't. It is way more expensive than your regular chewing gum though.

I think it only grows in the south of the arabian peninsula. The ones that also grow in Somalia and India are a different type I understand. I was told that quality is important too, most of the resins sold are for burning not for taking internally / chewing. And it is expensive, the one we chewed here is slightly below 30 pounds (around 50 Canadian dollars) for 25 grams I was told (they did not charge of course, ha ha).

Yeah I tried google and nothing but the stuff you burn for incense.  50.00 damn that's not cheap gum.

Ah well I'll stick to the incense.  It does smell nice.

Good choice. I hope I won't get addicted and won't have to buy as well.

It is supposed to be good for oral health from what I read on Google.   So if you do get addicted just think of the dentist visits you'll avoid ha!

Only visited the dentist for checkups and teeth cleaning so far, all teeth are in order, haven't had a single cavity yet.

That's a good price I think. Our host's friend gets his from here:

It seems to be more expensive there.

Thank you for the link. I just spent a few minutes looking over a .gov study on cancer and frankincense.

Yes, he told me about its healing properties too but I was most interested in its taste and the refreshing feeling in my mouth. I might drop in to that frankincense store in London, it is in Camden Market but usually I get into stuff like this for a very short period of time and then forget about it and move on to something new.

I'm not sure I've ever even smelled frankincense, but this has gotten me curious.
