You love a girl, na na na na na!

We were going into the woods in the morning and saw a couple of kids playing on the outskirts of the village. A boy of around eight was going up and down a steep hill on his bicycle and three girls of around five were playing with dolls on the lawn just next to the hill. The girls were taunting the boy, shouting something at him. I asked our host to translate it. They were shouting "You are a girl! You are a girl! Na na na na na!" The boy did not care much, he just laughed and shouted back "You are stupid!"

We were coming back in a couple of hours and it was still going on, I am not sure if they took a break or not. This time the boy was angry, he wasn't laughing and was telling them to shut up and again told them that they were little and stupid. He wasn't happy. The girls finally got to him. They changed their song though and were shouting "Flaviu (his name) loves a girl! He kisses her because he loves her! Na na na na na!" The girls looked really happy that they got to him. I guess they just kept trying different things until they found something that hit the nerve. Calling him a girl did not do it, but telling the world that he loved and kissed one really worked.

I got embarrassed when I was accused of kissing a girl when I was young. If it was actually true, then I would be upset that someone else made it his business, too.

Yes, I think he got upset because either he liked a girl indeed or thought about it whereas being called a girl did not get to him, I think he was quite sure he was a boy and any questioning of it seemed just ridiculous to him.
