Moldovan farmers caught between the EU and Russia, they cannot trade with the EU easily and are sanctioned by Russia apparently for Moldova's government pro-Western stand, recorded this last year, which was a very hard year for them.

I guess this was filmed during the time of the year when the Moldovan countryside does not look that pretty. And last year they also had a drought here. It is quite beautiful now and way way more beautiful than in this video. Or perhaps they did it on purpose to keep the focus on the people.

This is an awesome thing. I don't know quite how or why, but it is. It's definitely the oddest fruit commercial I have ever seen.

I wonder why they can't trade with the EU? The supermarkets are full of South African and South American fruit... But perhaps there are restrictions since presumably Moldovan fruits are more direct competitors for ones grown in the EU...

I think the first line of your comment sums up my thoughts about Moldova in general. I have no idea why we are having such an awesome time here. The place is off the tourists' maps for a reason, it hardly has anything to justify coming here. Pick anything and you can find at least ten countries in Europe that are way better at it than Moldova. I would also not recommend anyone to spend their time visiting this place unless one goes through a chain of coincidences like we did. And yet we are having a blast here.
