This was in Istanbul. There are many skins of big cats in this photo but can you see the small one with his skin still on?

Yes, there's a white cat-shaped blob there. :-) Are those real animal skins? Is that even legal?

I think they are unfortunately. I don't know if it is legal but it must be legal in Turkey, they were based right in the centre of the city and were displaying them freely.

I can understand why the cat might hide behind bars.  Doesn't want to be someone's fur coat.

That was my first thought too but they love cats very much in Istanbul and there are a lot of them there. People feed them and even build tiny houses for them.

Those windows, even the cat, have an odd painting-like quality to them.

The orange wall, both in the right and middle set of windows. The 2 men in the right set of windows... what are they doing? I suppose they are seated, but the first one looks like he is caught in mid-motion moving forward.
The cat seems just like how one would expect a painted cat to look, looking out a window, except for the mysteriously hidden eyes.
In the middle set of windows, the ladder-like steps going upwards, and another 1 or 2 indistinct people.

The indistinct quality of everything within the windows, compared to everything outside the windows, though I suppose that is just a matter of the photo quality... even how the bars in front of the windows seem not quite real / as if simply painted on.

And then there's the mystery as to why the top window, leaning inwards, has a mesh screen, but the larger fully open window on the bottom doesn't.
