We drove to a village two hours up north from ours today. It is one of those villages almost completely deserted by everyone except older people and kids (the former look after the latter).
Everyone who could work left either west to Italy, Germany or Ireland or east to Moscow. The village was full of heart breaking personal stories, but I will not post them here because these triple-hanky tear-jerking stories are too hokum, too cliche to be written down. Real life here often is too bad taste to be written down as it is, it often feels like the cheapest most cliche-ridden of stories.

Date: 2016-09-11 01:46 am (UTC)I used to babysit for a woman who worked in child protection. She was a social worker she would go with police to remove children from abusive homes to have them placed in foster care. The stories she would come home with-I don't know how she didn't end up taking all the babies home with her. Of course the laws here on that are very flawed. Often they would have to return the child to the abusing parents.
