"nobody ever got fired for buying IBM software", or the more recent version, "nobody ever got in trouble for buying a Camry". Innate conservativism: if you do the same thing everyone else does, it reduces your risk of failure, and people are way more likely to get on your case for failing than to be thrilled by an unexpected success.
I think that's the reason for most of the boring world we live in.

But it does look strange when a cutting edge events and PR company organises an event for the launch of the "new super innovative and ground-breaking" product.
