Actually no, this volcanic lake is pretty unique, it is filled with distilled water (it is that pure!). The mineralisation is almost zero and there is no oxygen in the water and no living creatures too.
Thanks for the link. Love the legends, but it still doesn't explain why almost pure distilled water would have to me filtered. Am I just being dense? Don't even try to tell me. Time for me to stop being lazy and google an answer.
You'll want to filter it because it still has debris in (not organic), stuff that falls from above, carried by the wind and the sediment at the bottom can raise too, etc. It does not have impurities dissolved in it but it does have stuff you will want filtered out before you drink it.
Okay, the answer is simple. (These are usually the answers that evade me.) Filtration removes soil particles and plant material that can interfere with disinfection.
