I think that the artist did not catch something essential in her face and it looks a bit off to me.

And with some fans.

Every time I pass this statue I get "Meet you downstairs in the bar and hurt..." playing in my mind although I never was a big fan of hers or any other musician.

That does look odd. They forgot the shit ton of eyeliner she wore,

I think it is even more than just eyeliner, he did not quite get her face right.

Such a tragic story... She was one of my favourite modern-day artists.

She was definitely very talented. And her life after she became famous was just like one big car crash.

Have you seen the documentary. It was awful how much pressure she was put under to make money. And the paparazzi! Ugh, it would have driven me to the edge, too. :-(

And she actually did not care about money much. A friend of mine knew her personally, she was very generous and gave away a lot of her money easily.

It was really upsetting how the media portrayed her as being self-destructive and hard, when there were really many outside energies driving that self-destruction, and she was so soft she couldn't fight back.

Your friend must have been very sorry to see her go. I only knew her thru her music and I felt the loss just thru that connection. :-(

Yes I think you are right the artist did miss something.

I enjoyed her music. She had a very classical jazz voice.  Very talented singer.  It is sad she died so young and did not get the help she needed for her addiction problems.

Very talented indeed. Her life was a complete bloody mess towards the end.

Yes.  The whole music industry ate her soul I think.

I never heard of her until she died, and I still don't see the appeal.

I can see that she was very talented and liked a couple of her songs but I have never actually been a fan of any musician, actor, writer, etc. I listen to a song / read a book / watch a movie, I like it, I move on.

CYBER DOG

What's that? I read it internally in a radio theater voice.

Cyberdog is a London trance music and cyberclothing/accessory retail chain. It specialises in bright fluorescent dance clothing, often featuring electronic components such as flashing lights. They also specialise in rave accessories such as glowsticks and UV-fluorescent items.

Thank you for the information. I've never been to a rave. The topic reminds me a little of German band Kraftwerk, which I do like but don't listen to much these days. I like their more hypnotic musical pieces such as Spacelab, Neon Lights, Europe Endless, Franz Schubert and others.

I have heard about Kraftwerk but cannot remember whether I have ever heard any of their music.

Are the bracelets part of the sculpture, or do people add their own? Or both?

I always assumed that people added their own. Sometimes she has other accessories, like a rose in her hair, those are done by whoever looks after the statue I think.

Most modern commemorative sculpture is pretty bad. We just don't have the knack of it.

I noticed that too, we just don't seem to be able to get right anymore.

No, I do not think.
