The groom surprised the bride with their wedding ride, which he put together himself at this wedding in Tiraspol, Transnistria.

Moldovan wedding is an experience. We attended two in a row and it will take us some time to recover.

Bride and groom sharing the wedding photographer with some other couples are waiting for their turn to fake and capture that special moment. The bride wasn't happy because of all the dusty wind. But I think with some help from Photoshop they should have been able to fake the weather too.

In fifty years:

Ahh, do you remember that special moment? How we queued up for our turn for half an hour and how slow those bastards before us were, the bride just could not strike that pose and smile at the same time (why are you even getting married if you can't fake happiness!?). And how we spent half an hour in that water trying all those poses and got shouted at by the crew. And how our feet bled because some evil tiny creatures kept nibbling on them. And how difficult it was to pretend to smile because I was so pissed off. And how it all looked nothing like it does in this picture. But how many likes those pictures got! And how much better they were than those from X's and Y's wedding. Ahhh...

I am going back home to London for two days tomorrow. After that I will hop over to Copenhagen for my friend's birthday party and then I am coming back to Moldova, we still have a lot of exciting work to do here.

Today we got invited for a Gypsy wedding. The wedding will take place in July in the town of Soroca, which is home to a large Roma community. They live separately from Moldovans there on a "Gypsy Hill" in the town's centre where they build enormous and bizarre houses. There is almost no intermarriage between Roma and Moldovans. We were told that the groom and the bride will be really young, which is traditional for this community. I tried to research this a bit, but not too much, I like to be surprised when I visit places and not know everything in advance. But below is a taster for you (just first one minute is enough). Yes, the guy you see from the beginning of the video is the groom and the girl is his bride. I bet this little dude will be the coolest when he goes back to school after this wedding and will have all the attention of his buddies to tell them about all the things they really wanted to know.

And of course I will be back with pictures from the Gypsy Hill.

We stopped in this town to stock up on water and food and saw this wedding procession. This part of Transylvania is mostly Hungarian.
The groom walks three paces behind the bride and is looking straight into my camera.

The bride-to-be has her make up fixed while the groom-to-be poses with a prop.

Now she is just waiting for her turn. Gotta be quick, heavy makeup doesn't last long at the beach.

In Singapore they take their wedding pictures a couple of months before the actual wedding. We saw dressed up couples with small crews of photographers all over the city. Apparently the shoots can involve multiple costume changes over a couple of days. The pictures are given to the guests on the wedding day.
