Vote Leave

Today in front of Sloan Square tube station. On my way back there also was one "Vote Remain" guy there. Exciting day here tomorrow.

Very exciting, indeed.

Would be great if you find time for some reports and photos - how it went, how people felt, how you voted and why...

Sorry, forgot that you aren't a citizen...

[identity profile] topum.livejournal.com 2016-06-23 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I am Danish and Norwegian, both an EU citizen (Denmark) and a non-EU citizen (Norway).

[identity profile] diejacobsleiter.livejournal.com 2016-06-23 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, you mentioned it, I just forgot for a second.

OMG, they say that "leavers" lead 51 to 49...

Yes, this is after Sunderland's results, 61% voted for leaving there and only 39 for remain.

[identity profile] topum.livejournal.com 2016-06-23 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Now remain is ahead again after Orkney and Clackmannanshire voted to stay.

I use BBC, they have live video streaming there too.

Pound dropped pretty sharply after Sunderland's results were announced. Exciting night.

Indeed. I am very far from British problems, but I am very excited. Somehow, it´s a historical moment. British nation is divided 50:50. It means that the nation lost its unityu and doesn't have any clear vision of its future and priorities. It was a mistake to let this very referendum happen...

[identity profile] topum.livejournal.com 2016-06-24 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
I was just asked how would I have voted in a similar referendum in Denmark and Norway. Weirdly I think I would vote for Denmark to stay in the EU as it is now and for Norway to stay out of it as it is now ).

[identity profile] diejacobsleiter.livejournal.com 2016-06-24 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
Very interesting. I don't know the region well, and haven't a faintest idea why you could think like this (and of course I don't dare to ask you to spend your time on explanations)...

Leavers and remainers are neck to neck again, wow...

[identity profile] topum.livejournal.com 2016-06-24 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
Would you vote for Russia joining the EU or against it if there was a referendum on this in Russia?

[identity profile] diejacobsleiter.livejournal.com 2016-06-24 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
I have voted by my legs - emigrated. I love the country and its culture, but I disagree with many basic principles of Russian social and political life (too criminal way of doing everything, too violent behaviour, too much dishonesty in national self-identification, too deep traditions of dictatorship, slavery and servility, too depressed mood of everyone around you, and the web of social relationship too messed up by communist experiments; = briefly: too insane society). So I don't feel myself a normal member of the Russian "community" and wouldn't go to vote at all. I only can say that for EU it would be a disaster to accept Russia - something like the last episode of the Trojan war, with the wooden horse etc... For Russia it could be a chance to change, and it will abuse, fuck up and lose this chance with 100% certainty.

I like Guardian's coverage actually, it is much clearer than BBC's. But BBC with their live streaming is better for the atmosphere, ha ha. I am following both.

[identity profile] diejacobsleiter.livejournal.com 2016-06-24 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
I am watching BBC too, thank you.

I am still taking in Swindon voting to leave.

[identity profile] diejacobsleiter.livejournal.com 2016-06-24 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
Looks like leavers are winning. Northern part is yellow, but all the rest tends to be blue...

[identity profile] beautesauvage13.livejournal.com 2016-06-23 01:42 am (UTC)(link)

Are they voting tomorrow on whether to stay in the EU or leave?

If they leave how will Scotland take that?

[identity profile] topum.livejournal.com 2016-06-23 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, they have voted on it today.

[identity profile] beautesauvage13.livejournal.com 2016-06-24 12:09 am (UTC)(link)

When will they have the results?

They are counting and releasing them throughout the night. London will declare between 3am and 4am, Glasgow, Liverpool and Manchester around 5am and those are likely to be decisive already. We will know tomorrow morning. Can be tracked here in real time:

At the moment leave leads with 54%.

[identity profile] beautesauvage13.livejournal.com 2016-06-24 12:40 am (UTC)(link)

Wow 54% want to leave so far..looks like it's going to be close.  Will be interesting to see the final results tomorrow.

Think i am going to hide for the day in a tea party and talk to the Mad Hatter and Alice....some where on the table will be the result..

[identity profile] topum.livejournal.com 2016-06-23 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I think remain will win narrowly this time. It will be very interesting to wake up to the results tomorrow.
