A bed with a view

A group of guests showed up unannounced at our Romanian host's house during our stay and I volunteered to move to a small house at the back of our host's parents's garden not very far away for one night as they tried to ensure everyone had a bed for the night. I did not regret it, the view was spectacular and our host's mother cooked an awesome breakfast for me in the morning.

It is surprisingly beautiful, authentic and diverse, yes. It does lack the polish of its more developed western european neighbours of course but I find it a very interesting place to visit.

Beautiful area. What language are you speaking to the people you encounter there? Romanian? English? Something else?

I speak English there. If somebody doesn't speak any English but I need to talk to them someone else usually helps with translation. I can't speak Romanian and Scandinavian languages are very rarely spoken by anyone outside Scandinavia.

It is not my job (I have a hunch that's why it is so fulfilling), it is just something I want to do at the moment. I was able to retire at 29, my job was crazy and much less fulfilling ).

I did a bit, the scenery there is amazing. One has to be very careful though there are a lot of bears there. I think these mountains in the centre of Romania are home to more than a third of all bears in the whole of Europe.
