There are loads of them in Moldova where we are now. Way more free fruit everywhere than people can eat. Also, one can pick fruit from any tree in the village we are staying in as long as it is for eating on the spot (or taking away whatever you can cary in your hand). It can be your neighbours' tree or just anyone's tree in anyone's garden. It is such a nice tradition.
It was end of December and it was in the range of 14C - 19C I think. It get cold in Athens occasionally and even snow happens every once in a while. But generally, last December was very pleasant, 17C with some sunshine and quite green, very comfortable. Summers are impossible there though, the city just turns into a giant oven.
