An afternoons' work

We helped Ana-Maria yesterday:



She is a widow and lives with her daughter-in-law and her one year old grandson. Her son could not find enough work here and left to work in France. We have been talking to him for a while and I even met him in Paris the last time I was there. We have now offered him a job helping with our project in the village for at least one year and he is gladly coming back to his family.

Oh so much yummy filling

This "oh so much yummy filling" Ukrainian bar of "chocolate" is probably one of the most disgusting things I have ever tasted.



It tastes like the bar is made of melted plastic cups and the filling is super glue with a pound of sugar in it. Even a small piece coats your mouth with a disgusting plasticy film that would not be rinsed out. There is no cocoa in it at all and most of the ingredients are some hydrogenated fats (from palm and soy oils) and synthetic flavourings. I have no idea why anyone would ever buy and eat this.

We rarely eat manufactured or processed foods here. We did try Belarusian ice cream and it was pretty good. But this Ukrainian bar is simply inedible. Luckily, we still have a box of Green & Black's with us here.
