We went to the capital today (and thanks to slobberpuppy stocked up on pineapples) and when we came back, the usual basket from the locals was waiting for us on the porch.
We have never done grocery shopping during our stay here except for exotic things every now and then. All the food is grown here and is brought to us in such baskets by the locals.
Tomorrow it will be a "white" basket. That one is with milk, goat milk, home made yogurt, home made goat cheese, butter, sour cream and cottage cheese.
It is very healthy apparently . It can be eaten raw (very sour but I like it), juiced or added to juices (they do quite a bit here). They also make sea buckthorn jelly and most popular sea buckthorn product - sea buckthorn oil. No, the red berries are viburnum.
Some of the pineapple is going on a pizza tonight. The rinds are currently starting thier journey towards being tepache. I hope the tepache turns out ok, it's my first time making it!
