I have two very dear friends. Both of them are very honest, brave and passionate people. Both of them are much smarter than I. I love them dearly.
One of them sees the Israel - Palestine problem like this:


And the other one like this:

I always tell them honestly that I have absolutely no idea and cannot take a view on this. They both find it really strange for some reason. But I just do not know enough and I do not think I am smart enough to ever be able to figure out what is really going on there with all that media noise and manipulation from all sides which has been going on for years it seems.

I find it surprising that so many people not directly affected by the situation seem to have very clear views on this and many are extremely passionate about those views. I met a lot of people with very firm positions on this. And much fewer people with firm knowledge of even the most basic facts from the history of the problem. I feel there is a disconnect between the two and I wonder what are all those firm views based on and where all that passion is coming from.

Yes, exactly. I've had people ask me my opinion on subjects before and I will honestly tell them that I don't feel I have enough information to take a stand either way. More often than not they tell me that's a "cop out".
