Folk wrestling

Our new local volunteers arrived this week and today they taught us some Moldovan folk wrestling which is called Trântă. I have aways enjoyed a friendly fight and it was great fun. Both men and women participated. Our artsy volunteers got inspired by how it all looked and started sketching. It is too early to post their work but since I like to have pictures in my posts, here are a couple of nice ones by Cranach the Elder, Rassenfosse and Sluyters.

Is it like Judo or Jujitsu? 


One of my nephews just started in Jujitsu.  He's 7.  He loves it. 


I love the art.  It looks interesting.

That is some very energetic (and naked) wrestling. I'm a bit worried that the gentlemen in the first photo have taken things too far and done each other irreparable damage.

I loved martial arts a a kid too. And I still do.
